Yesterday there were Vaisakhi annual celebrations across the West Midlands including the biggest event outside India in Handsworth Park, Birmingham. The High Sheriff was honoured to accept a kind invitation to attend the the celebrations by Dr. Pyara Singh Bhogal, Chairman of the Council of Sikh Gurdwaras in Birmingham. On a Spring day blessed with bright sunshine and blue skies, 125,000 people arrived in the park to celebrate and enjoy the family events, activities and langar.
Locally the two major processions came from the Ramgarhia Sikh Temple in the Jewellery Quarter and the second from Gurdwara Baba Sang Ji in Smethwick.
