Filming with YAY16 winners

Its a bright Spring Saturday morning and the 7 winners of the ‘Thru Your Eyes’ short film competition gather to ‘film their films’.  The 10 second films capture many images of Birmingham are being shown on a mobile phone, to be shown on the Media eyes at Grand central soon.  The films were made as a  contribution to the Year of Arts & Young People  – YAY! 

This was a follow up to the Creative Futures launch and film made last summer and screened at the High Sheriff’s Garden Party. The films were selected from an open submission from young filmaking brummies by Claire Starmer Birmingham City Ccouncil, Head of Marketing Danielle Bozward and Jo Tabis from Grand Central and the High Sheriff.  Josephine Reichert from MAIA Creatives produced the project and Magdalena Swiatek directed. The winning filmakers are Kanika Safiya, Poppy Twist, Summaya Iqbal, Hannah Prentice, Tasharn, Sheldon, Malikah Holder and overall winner is Povilas Jakutis for his BRUM LIFE film.

Partnering on the project are BMAG where the films are screening as part of the hundredsand thousands exhibition and Grand Central where ten films will be screened on the Grand Central Eyes.
