Thursday night in Birmingham City Centre and a projection of the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery logo guides the High Sheriff to the Waterhall Gallery and the opening of the New Art West Midlands annual exhibition. It is the fourth year the show has featured recent graduates from across 5 West Midlands Art Departments. The Waterhall is one of 5 New Art West Midlands venues Wolverhampton, Coventry, Staffordshire and Mac Birmingham. Out of the cold inside the gallery is warm and full of people to see the new works adorning the walls and a number of sculptures and video arts.
Since John Butler has recently stepped down from the Chairmanship vice chair took the mic to give thanks to all those who have supported the exhibition including Rachel Bradley who was hiding in the crowd!
Wendy Hall took to the stage to celebrate the great breadth of work and talent represented. She invited 5 artists to come up and receive a prize of £1000 .
Following the artists awards Toby Watley presented John Butler and Wendy Law with gifts in appreciation of all their hard and important work to establish and grow TPWM
